Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD, doesn’t just impact people in the military. PTSD can happen to anyone that has gone through a stressful event. Imagine PTSD as an unprocessed negative event. This could be anything from an accident to a difficulty break-up. It isn’t so much about what the happened, as much as it is about how it impacted you.
If the trauma is not healthily processed it can remain in your brain stuck in time. This means that an event from 20 years ago can impact you as though it is still occurring today.
